  How to upgrade firmware?
[When to Upgrade Firmware?]

- Current version of firmware of your COWON A2 is different from the latest available firmware.

- Device does not power up after formatting.

- Device halts due to deletion of the system folder or other unknown bugs.

- After Disk Cleanup due to the HDD error.

- Malfuntioning device.

- Known bugs are fixed with the new firmware.

- New features are enhanced with the new firmware.



[Warning/Caution]

- The battery must be fully charged before upgrading firmware.

- Do not turn the power off during upgrading.

- Do not use USB hub or any type of device in conjunction with the computer. Use USB port on the computer directly to connect the device.

- Back up the files just in case.

- Factory default setting will be reinstated when system folder is deleted during firmware upgrade.

- You MUST use firmware installer provided by COWON.


[Installation Steps]

1. Download the latest firmware and unzip it.

2. Select all files (Ctrl + A) in the firmware folder and right click to copy.





3. Connect COWON A2 to a PC via USB cable. When connection is made, open the root foler in COWON A2. Right click to paste files to the root folder in COWON A2.











4. Click "Safely remove hardware" icon in the tray at the lower right corner of your computer screen to disconnect COWON A2 from a PC.





5. Make sure that COWON A2 is turned off. Press and hold Jog button on COWON A2 and press power button.





6. COWON A2 will automatically start firmware upgrade. COWON A2 restarts after finishing upgrading.





7. You can check the upgraded verion of firmware in System Information under Settings menu.
