Seoul, February 22, 2011 – Cowon System (CEO Nam-Kyu Park, www.cowon.com) has announced that its MP3 player ‘COWON J3’ and PMP ‘COWON V5’ were selected as the top products on Japan’s largest price comparison and community website kakaku.com (www.kakaku.com).
Kakaku.com is Japan’s largest electronics price comparison website currently serving more than ten million Japanese consumers per month since its launch in 1997. It holds the Product Award event in which products with highest customer satisfaction ratings are selected each year. Following ‘iAUDIO 9’ and ‘COWON S9’ in 2009, Cowon took the honor of winning the Top Products in 2010 in the MP3 player and the PMP categories with ‘COWON J3’ and ‘COWON V5’, winning the Top Products award two years in a row.
Unlike other awards events in which winning products are selected via simple online voting, kakaku.com’s Product Award selects winning products which bring the greatest satisfaction to consumers in their performance as well as the sales rating, based on the reviews posted daily by consumers during the past year. Kakaku.com’s Product Award is thus known as the highly fair and authoritative awards event.
The 2010 Product Award selected winning products in ninety-eight categories based on the twelve million reviews and comments that have accumulated on kakaku.com from January to December. ‘COWON J3’ received highly favorable reviews in the Portable Music Player that its highly realistic JefEffect sound field provides a new way of enjoying music which does not compare to that of other companies. ‘COWON V5’, the first HD portable media player in Korea, received praises from consumers that its clear, high-resolution video quality delivers a moving HDTV experience.
As if to reflect such highly favorable assessment of consumers, these two products are actually seeing high sales performance in Japan’s major retail stores such as Yodobashi and Big Camera.
